Fuck you, Medium.com
This is my last post here! Thanks for nothing!

I started writing in this shit hole in 2021. I thought it would be a good way to share my C++ knowledge with anyone who was interested. At that time I had a free membership, so Medium was attractive for blogging as a hobby.
Later, I found some really interesting information here, so I became a member in 2023.
For some time I had been fascinated by the idea of writing, so in October 2024 I decided to give it a try and publish articles on a regular basis.
In the early days, I kept my articles free because my main interest was writing, not money.
Nevertheless, I eventually decided to move the older articles behind the paywall and publish the new ones only for Medium members. Despite that, I included a friend link in all of them so that non-members could also access the content.
Before October, I gained 23 followers organically with 5 articles. I just posted the link to each one on LinkedIn and that was it. It took me 3 years to get this awesome amount of followers by doing absolutely nothing.
But in that short time, I published 13 new articles and somehow gained some traction. Just last month, I went from 23 to 69 followers. This month I climbed to 90 without really publishing anything new.
Last month I “earned” the astronomical sum of $10.67.
For this month, my jaw drops with the unbelievable amount of $0.65. “Life is good!” — I thought, “With this money, I will soon be able to quit my high-paying job and retire to an island where I can write under the sun and coconut palms”.
But this week I saw this message in my account:

What the fuck?????????????????????????????
Of course I clicked the damn button, I wanted to learn more!!

And this is it! Was the article useful? Hell, fucking no!
So in terms of AI. Yes! I did use AI on my images, but I fully disclosed that. They were all generated locally on my computer using Fooocus. By the way, anyone who claims they can tell you are using AI-generated text is a fucking liar. Read here.
In terms of engagement, I went to some social media groups and dropped my articles there.
But I also searched Medium for people with similar interests to mine and engaged with their posts. I read all of them and left honest feedback. Some of them responded. But in some cases, not as thoughtfully as I did. I did not know that it was forbidden to engage with other writers; on the contrary, I often heard that it was encouraged by the platform itself.
So I guess that is why I got kicked out.
Note that they say “not limited to”, so there could be some hidden factors that turn this platform into something opaque. I was informed this week that there has been a purge of accounts that have been revoked for no apparent reason.
If I were to use my imagination, I would assume that they are in the business of cost reduction. Who knows?
But the main point is that writing here is like building a house on rented land.
As I said, money is not the issue. The work and effort is wasted. But even that, I do not want to start from scratch here, as someone suggested to me. That would mean setting up another account and paying for the damn membership again. No fucking way. I will not give those bastards any more money.
I am just going to cancel my membership and read until the billing cycle ends. As for the articles I published, I have already deleted them, except for the old ones that were always free.
All of my content has already been moved to a publication in substack.
If you are interested, feel free to go there and take a look. Just comment in this article and I will send you some friend links directly to you.
